1waiheke

I’ve been looking through my archived photos and found this beauty¬†from when we purchased our property on Waiheke.

This shows¬†the original bach that we fell in love with…no running water, an outhouse with a “bucket and chuck it” for a loo, and rotting weatherboards!

So we began the huge task of renovating, which, as my Mum said, grew like topsy and really became a full rebuild.

We did manage to keep the original floorboards and 3 x internal walls…but the rest had to go.

Martinborough

Just been having a look through some past events, and found this one. Every year we go to Martinborough for their wine and food festival. This is a great example of Photo Booth imagery…the participants can really play up and it makes such fun photos.

Sailors Grave

Another magical spot on the Coromandel Peninsula is Sailors Grave, so called as a sailor drowned there in the 1800s. The grave is now looked after by the NZ Navy. The full story is here:

At times the surf rolls in, and others, as when we visited, the sea was quiet with children playing in the estuary outlet…

During a recent visit to Martinborough, in NZ’s wonderful South Wairarapa, we took the fully escorted Murdoch James Grape to Glass Wine Tour. With accompanying wine tasting we walked the vines, visited the winery, and ended up in the barrel caves .I so recommend this to everyone, from novice to experienced, it is such a fun and informative way to spend an afternoon.

So the school work is all finished for the Midyear break, and we went a way for a short break to Matapouri and stayed in an amazing Coastal Holiday Home…the views and walks were amazing.

I’ve been away on holiday, enjoying some of NZ’s most amazing landscapes. I took a huge number of photos…this is a very small selection. No doubt I will be uploading more in the future!
